Our Story

We are a technology-led elder care company with a single task: we want to provide seniors the tools needed to live a rich and fulfilling life.  We believe in the dignity of self-determination.

Founded in 2014, SENCOM brings together a team of dedicated, collaborative, and caring people in Omaha, Nebraska.  Serving as our President and CFO is Greg Wilson, founder of Hawkeye Vision and Game Plan Technologies with nearly 30 years in developing technology products.  Shortly after leaving Game Plan Technologies in 2008, Greg's wife was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  Upon receiving his wife's diagnosis, Greg focused much of his time and energy helping manage his wife's many health issues.  He learned through this experience that the family caregiver was the central point in caring for a sick loved one.  A task that requires managing different doctors and treatments that are not connected and unless you have a medical background, the task can daunting with little help available.

Today we have nearly 20 million seniors over the age of 75.  Many are living alone and more than 7 million are more than 300 miles from a loved one.  Loved ones find themselves in a similar situation as Greg found himself in caring for his wife: There are so many pieces of the puzzle without an easy way to manage all of them.

Caregiving puts tremendous pressure on family members and seniors who wish to age in place.    Given the high cost of institutionalized care and the individual's own desire to age in place, families are searching for a solution.  Outside assistance is often needed to make living at home work.  Seniors require an array of services that can include medication compliance, health monitoring, home safety, social interaction, transportation, groceries, etc.  All of these services are available today in one form or another.  The trouble is that they are not connected to each other and a senior or family member must deal with several different services from different vendors to make it all work. This is very difficult to do.

In order to make home living work, seniors need an integrated approach to daily living.  An intelligent digital system that can integrate with a multitude of services all residing under a single easy-to-use user interface designed specifically for seniors.  Additionally, the system would need to provide information back to caregivers and healthcare providers to the status of a senior creating a circle of care and ensuring their well being while living at home.  For seniors in a care facility, families have concerns regarding quality of care but also quality of life.  Seniors in institutionalized care can find the environment emotionally and mentally challenging.  SENCOM provides many features that help families stay in touch with their loved one and at the same time, keeps a loved one connected to the outside world.

The experiences Greg had in caring for his wife, became the cornerstone for the development of SENCOM, the only product of its kind designed specifically for seniors.  A product that can assist with the challenges facing seniors when trying to remain at home or in a care facility.   SENCOM was designed for seniors but also for families.  As Greg found out, caregiving is an exhausting task especially when simultaneously caring for kids.  There simply aren’t enough hours in the day.   We are committed in providing seniors with the tools needed to stay independent and live their later years on their own terms.
